The Black Bull Hotel is situated in the ideallic town of Moffat in the South of Scotland. The town is surrounded by the Moffat Hills - a walkers paradise. Moffat has it's heritage as a spa town from the victorian era. Much of the character of the town's uniqueness has survived, full of individual shops - having a first class butchers, bakers, delicatessen and a variety of day and night time eateries if you so wish.

The historic cities of Edinburgh and Carlisle and cosmopolitan Glasgow are a short drive away for a day out. The castles and abbeys in the Scottish Borders are easily accessed within 30 minutes, as is the regions capital, Dumfries, with the Galloway coastline and it's unspoiled villages and home produce beyond.

The Moffat area also caters for a variety of activities, including fossil hunting at the Grey Mare's Tail, cycling off road at the 7Stanes, horse riding or quad biking. The town has it's own golf course, fishing facilities, play park, boating pond, putting green, tennis and bowling courts. Many events happen throughout the year such as Moffat classic car rally, agricultural show, gala week, folk weekend, food and drink festivals.
